DOOMSDAY (2008)

"You wanna eat... how about a piece of your friend."

Wow! An experience that cannot be said in a review of a thousand page. This movie was an incredible mix between the horses and weapons, between old and new, between Chronicles of Narnia, the lord of the ring and resident evil. a mix too sweet to resist. And trust me; I am not wrong when I say one of the best of all time. It mixed the tow kinds of things I look for at first in a movie: The fight with the swords and the horses and the other kind with the weapons and others. It's like a whole new kind of movies nobody invented before. I said Wow like a thousand time and was impressed and was clapping even thought I watched it alone on the DVD. It was too great to be true, But it was true after all.

At first I thought I was going to watch another movie that had a virus infection in it, and then all the things happens as normal as possible. But, yes I admit it, I was incredibly wrong. I was amazed by what I saw, a movie too great to talk about. I was shocked by all of it, from the start till the end.

I always start with the story. So I don't even know where to begin. 30 years ago, The UK was infected with a deadly virus that hit half of the country, to avoid the virus's infection to the other side of the country; a wall was built around the area that was infected, isolating it from the outside world. The wall was built and made carefully and was fully armed to let nobody get out of the infected area that was called as, The Hot Zone. I think I should say that this was the plan of the government of England. A quarter of a century later, with a new outbreak of the Reaper resurfacing in London, it becomes apparent that the government's best laid plans have gone completely, bloody awry. Department of Domestic Security (DDS) Chief Bill Nelson had summoned a meeting to send people inside the hot zone, after he saw some satellite photos of Reaper survivors in the hot zone. The Chief of the DDS thought that since he found some survivors than that is sure that there is a cure for them to live. The Crew that was sent in the Hot Zone to look for this cure, and they get in some unbelievable adventures. To not talk more, But I assure you that there is more to the story than what I wrote, the story was great. I thought I should leave some things hidden So you would actually like to see the movie.

Another important I think I should talk about was the actors, didn't really know the names of the actors, But I did recognize them from there filmography. For example Rhona Mitra, I didn't really recognize her in the movie, but After I knew that she was the chick from Number 23, and that she's gonna be in the next underworld, I think I did find it interesting that she had made this great movie too, all along with the tow I had talked about now. By the way, I am really looking for the great movie underworld 3, and think that she is gonna be really good in it. I didn't really recognize any of the other faces in the movie, so I didn't really pay attention on the cast. But for the acting, it was pretty good, but I was really afraid they could've ruined it. But they did a really good job.

I do really wanna talk about the visualization, because it was greatly made. the thing was that it was fully loaded with action so if it didn't have good visualation, nobody would've watched it. But they did a good job throw everything. the great thing they did was that they did a great job in the mix. the mix was good between the historical kind of movies and the action packed kind of movies with guns and other stuff. They did even the action between the swords and the guns. as the movie starts, I thought it was gonna be exactly like Resident evil, but it wasn't. it's like you was in the resident evil movie and you get to Narnia in a second. But i did like that alot more than I thought I would. It had a fight just like the gladiator movie. I wont talk anymore to not ruin the movie, but I can say it's a must watch, that is sure.

After all I have talked about the movie, here comes the part of the great and incredible music throughout the movie. the music was incredible and I had to talk about it. The music was a mix between the 300 soundtrack and the rock n' roll kind of music. It was great to say I did like both of them as music effects. It was incredible especially that they used it in the exact right time. It was really good, because The mix of both kind of music effects was hard, so they had to do it carefully, especially that both kind of music are total opposit. that is why I think they did a great job in this point too.

To say I was excited when the movie was released in the theaters, I would probably be a liar. I had no Idea that the day would come when I would watch this movie, nor that I would like it. But after all I did like it, and I enjoyed the movie to the point that I would say: woooohoooo, they made it from the explosion, or whatever it is. I can tell you the movie is incredible, and full of many kind of things I like to see in a movie: it had the guns, the swords, the music, the visuals and the acting - not the actors - which was kinda good.

All I really have to say at the end of this is, yes, this is one of the best movies of all time in my mind.

moviebuff123, I still tell you and respect that you have your own opinion, and as i said in the review, it is one of the best of all time in my opinion, isn't this is what reviews r for, your opinion about the movie, check my profile, and I have my alltime fav. movies, that dosen;t mean you should see titanic in there just because it is the best in the world and in US alltime. the dark knight is the best movie I've seen, Box office is simething to tell you how popular the movie is and to give you one more push to see the movie, but After you see it, it's all about what you think of the movie, Box office really matters. let me give you an example with doomsday even: I didn;t wanna watch this exact movie becasue of the box office, but then I was like you know what i am bored lets get doomsday and watch it. then it is one of the all time fav for me. just like sweeney todd, it didn;t get that much money but it was hugely incredible. let me tell you this

I thank you for telling me that that is a good review,
I respect your opinion and that is why i am answering it.
3 if the best of all time means the best "in the history of" than the best of all time for me means the best in the history of movies that I think there cool.
4 yes I think it's a great movie and phat thinks it's a great movie and it is in the best of all time in our book or mine if it is not in phat's
I respect your opinion but come on lets just cool it down a little phat and moviebuff, each one of you got his own point and both of you r right.

Bragg, Bet over yourself, and get over the idea that I can't write reviews and that I am not a 'trad, what the hell dude. get over yourself, I have proven that years before you were born. thnks alot Cryptkeeper, and moviebuff123, I think you are One of the good freind for me on the movieweb. and bragg, "I still think gui is a 'trad", siriously, does it look like I care what do you fuckin think, grow some balls and then come back. = get over it, it was long long long time ago when someone cared about you. and if you think that you will do to me what you did to my stardust and Narnia 2 review, I will take that positivly cause you are only giving me more credit to get better in the most discussed list.

Dark knight, i did give it a five stars because I think it deserves Five, I still respect your opinion if you don;t, but yes it is 5 stars and I think it is cool enough to take 5 or I would obviously not give it 5. you r free with your opinion just like me dark knight, so yeah I did give it a 5, and I said why throughout the full review.

I never said I agree with "the best all-time", but fortunately for me, I WAS educated... and I also believe that "best all time" is not determined by how much money it makes.. "best all time" is in the eyes of the beholder, no matter which category you shine it on... be it movies, or running backs for some odd fucking reason. Hall of famers are voted in, not allowed in for rushing for so many yards, where the fuck did you go to school? So how about you get off your high horse and realize that no matter what its someones opinions.. so if gui thinks this is the best all time, then thats his piece. I'm just sick of you tearing down supposed "unoriginal" movies. No matter what age you are, you need to grow the fuck up.

You know... it really is getting harder and harder to keep my cool around here. But I will... as usual.

1st Gui... I said I was glad you liked the movie... and I am. Everyone has their preferences. And it is a good review by the way... one of your best ones yet.

2nd... I have the right to my opinion (just like you guys) and I think this movie was a ripoff from start to finish and I hated it.

3rd... Phat... if you're really 21, then our education system should've taught you that when someone says "the best all-time" they're saying the best "in the history of"... that means statistics are needed because you are no longer talking about opinion. In this case.. box office numbers.

Yes.. I agree... I don't think Titanic should be the "best all-time" but it is... according to stats. You can't say "Kevin Jones is one of the best all-time runningbacks in the NFL"... cause he's not. He's just a blip in the NFL. He doesn't hold a candle to the Emmitt Smiths, Jim Browns, Walter Peytons, etc..

So... Gui thinks this is a great movie. Fine. Phat thinks its a great movie... that's fine too. But "one of the best all-time"?

NO! I've said my piece so... peace. :) (With a big smile on my face... it might be a fake one... but its there.

I got your back gui, unfortunately, SOME people can't appreciate a good movie for what it is, they go in, see similarities to another movie and instantly tear it down... it's ridiculous. Sorry that after 118 years of cinematography people are starting to lack originality.... such a fucking crime. I can't wait to see what people say in 40 years when NOTHING is original, everything is a remake because theres just nothing else to do that will captivate audiences without SOMEHOW being compared to another movie.

"ya, box office numbers don't mean shit. Dark Knight isn't that great, and look at. I think it's almost $5 million as of now."
that's exactly what you wrote i copied it and pasted it.
I think if you didn't like it then you just didn't but I did. anyways do you have a doomsday review so I can check it out.
BTW i did comment your dracula review

well cryptkeeper, I wanna tell you one thing I did say, you gave an example of the great and incredible Dark knight, But I give you the example of resident evil got 50 million in the box office not that much right. the underworld evolution didn't get to the 100 mill. hot fuzz didn't either and it was really good so It is not the box office or not it's just the movie, I think the box office give me a great push for me to know if the movie was good or not, but let me tell you one thing, the box office is not everything, because many movies get lots of good action even thought the whole box office thing was bad, take grindhouse with it's tow parts. well I think I have proven my point for you. now if you don't like it because of your own opinion then I totally respect that, but if you only don't like it because of the box office and you haven't seen it, then let me tell you that you would be wrong.

about the mad thing in the interview with the vampire review, I was not mad at all I already said that it was just an accident and then I wrote more than half of the comment in caps lock and it was nothing to show that I am mad because I am not.

thnks for everyone who thought that the review was good.

ya, box office numbers don't mean shit. Dark Knight isn't that great, and look at. I think it's almost $5 million as of now.

and it's kinda funny, because on Gui's last review MB123 was first, and argued a point, and i think Gui is getting kinda mad. lol, i didn't mean any offense, Gui.

Anyway, great review, one of your best. You keep getting better and better with each review, and don't let anyone tell you differently. Personally, I didn't find this movie all that great, and sorry, Gui, but i agree wih MB123. It was a rip off. At least in Resident Evil they actually got a hot girl, but not in this. They couldn't even get original ideas. I have seen this type of movie so many times before, it was boring, especially a second time I watched it.

When you say "It's like a whole new kind of movies nobody invented before.", I have to disagree with that. Everyone has seen this movie before, even if they havent seen this movie, if that makes any sense. lol

BUT, still a great reivew, good job. I give this movie a 3, but the review a 4.5

if box office numbers ruled the world then we would all be sinking on a large fucking ship with a guy dressed as a bat trying to save us.... box office numbers mean nothing.. look at all the bullshit "superhero movie" and "disaster movie", they have all, and will all make a killing, does that mean there good? Of course not. So take your box office numbers and leave them at the fucking door, they mean nothing.

I disagree with you moviebuff.. I enjoyed this movie as well. Again I find that you enjoy linking movies to other movies, as if movies can not show similarities to other movies.. It's ridiculous. This movie was good for what it was, a killer movie. Perhaps not a 5 star, but definately not less than 4... this movie was very underrated.

well I haven't watched the escape from new york, Mad Max trilogy, but i surely watched residen evil. I did like it, and I think it's one of the all time best in my mind and not at the box office, there is lots of movies that were too bad in the box office but are ones of the best of all tme in my mind. I don't care how popular the movie is, I care about what I saw in the movie and i am pretty sure I saw some godd stuff in this one.

"And trust me; I am not wrong when I say one of the best of all time."

Yes.. you ARE wrong. This is NOT one of the best of all time. The movie bombed at the box office and it just plained sucked. It stole ideas from the Resident Evil trilogy, the Escape from New York movie, and the Mad Max trilogy. It was a ripoff from start to finish. And everybody saw what it really was... a piece of crap ripped off movie.

Glad you liked it, but no way is this a 5 star movie.
