"What a croc!"
This was actually better than I thought. I'm not saying it was good or anything, but it was ok... I guess. It was bearable for a one time view. Nothing else. Even then, maybe not. It was not a cinematic disaster, but it definitely is NOT a movie worth too many stars. Even if you do like this film, you gotta admit it is bad. Lame dialogue, Betty White sucked, bad acting, used story, and a cheesy crocodile. So I guess I can see some liking it as a "so bad, it's good" sort of movie, but NO ONE takes this thing seriously... I hope.
The story has been used before so many times, it's pathetic. Just some dumb crocodile killing. Ok, that's a story I could bear, if the movie was better. There was a death at a lake, so they send some people to investigate it. While this story is entertaining, it certainly is not good.
The acting is awful. I am not familiar with Bridget Fonda, but she did pretty bad in this one... very bad. Brendan Gleeson... he didn't do bad, but why would he sign up for this?! I am not a fan of his, however he has 2 great movies, In Bruges, and 28 Days Later. Both great movies, and this one is not. A few other familiar faces that do pretty bad. Betty White... she pretty much ruined the film for me. Her character was just freaking retarded, and just her whole personality is super stupid. The choice of words she used is enough to make me kill her she is so stupid. I was about to strangle her, she was so annoying. She lives by the lake and feeds the crocodile that killed her husband... lame.
The director is Steve Miner. What happened?! He did Halloween: H2O!! Which was great!! He also did Friday the 13th parts 2 and 3, which weren't bad... for a Friday the 13th film. He also brought us a movie called House, which was decent. His directing was unbearable! I mean the movie wasn't even funny, or scary. I think they wanted it to be both, and it was neither. Also just poorly shot scenes.
The visuals aren't too bad. The crocodile looks remotely good in most scenes. Actually quite pretty scenery around the lake.
Overall, not a horrible film, not a good one either. One that I recommend MAYBE for one watch. But get it if it is free at Blockbuster, or if it's on TV some time. Haven't seen the second, and now I don't plan to!

but please know that insults from you, i dont even take seriously. they make me laugh.
thanks, MovieNerd. I guess i can see a few people liking it...
and thanks. I think it was suppose to be comedy/horror. Because you could tell it was trying to be fuuny... but wasn't. But there was nothing scary, and it seemed as though they did't even try to do that. too lame to be drama. maybe action would work... maybe. I know at Blockbuster, they had it in horror.
Nice review. I agree. Passable but nothing special. I kinda have a hard time figuring out what this movie wanted to be... a horror? Can't be... it wasn't scary. A comedy? Nope, it wasn't funny. A drama? Not boring enough. Maybe... action? There was some... but not sure if there was enough to call this an action flick. haha
