"It doesn't live up to "Casino Royale" but it is still one great Bond film."
"Quantum of Solace" is a fast paced action movie that could have been even better if not brought down by a weak story.
"Quantum of Solace" begins only 20 minutes after "Casino Royale" ended as James is out to avenge the death of Vesper, the woman he loved but soon betrayed him. He interrogates Mr. White and eventually gets a lead that takes him to Haiti. He meets Camille, a beautiful woman that James saves and in return she helps him out. She takes him to Dominic Greene an evil business man who is cutting deals with political figures only to get a fortune for himself. M thinks Bond is motivated by revenge and she sends people after him. He must stay on the run and get help from former allies to end what Greene is doing and hopefully get the people responsible for Vesper's death. The action never stops and a good Bond adventure is in store.
The story is a little weak. It picks up right after "Casino Royale" ended but the greatness of that film does not follow. It doesn't take enough time to develop a relationship between the characters and instead as a fight scene or an action scene every 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong the action is great but they should have cut out a fight scene or two just for a little more character development.
The acting is fantastic. Daniel Craig is now officially my favorite Bond actor and Olga Kurylenko might possibly be my favorite Bond girl. Although I think she is under used in this movie. Mathieu Amalric playing the villain isn't as evil as you might think but he is still creepy and someone who you could think of in that role. Judi Dench returning as M once again is great as usual.
Director Marc Forster does a good job here but he never really has directed a major action film before so that might be why I think he has trouble pacing the action scenes. If he directs another Bond film than he might just want to leave a little action out and create a more intriguing story.
The visuals are the highlight here. The action scenes are so realistic and they don't let up for a minute. They had a budget of 230 million so I am sure they spent most of that on these amazing visuals.
So if your looking for a great Bond film with every element except story of course than "Quantum of Solace" should and I am sure will be your pick.

I agree with you on Olga Kurylenko. she is DEFINITLY the best Bond girl, and totally under-used, like you said... agagin, great review.
However,Olga Kurylenko is definitly not my favorite Bond girl. She is very sexy and was good in it but not my favortie.
Great review.
So even if this movie breaks that record and makes... lets say... 260 million, that's not that great considering it cost 230 million to make. The budget for Die Another Day was 142 million and Casino Royale was 102 million.... so at least Casino showed a decent profit. I know.. I know... these movies do MUCH better overseas.... hell, its already made 190 million internationally so it will make a nice profit. I guess they really don't rely on the U.S. for Bond flicks haha. Too bad... I love the character.
Great review buddy. Glad you gave it a four and half... Can't wait to see it.
