According to Greg Beeman's blog, actually more than one thousand origami cranes were used in the scene. The first 1000 cranes were rented from a nearby Catholic girls' school (where they had been made by students to wish for the recovery of a sick teacher). More cranes were needed to fill out the scene; the folding took 10 people 3 eight-hour days to complete. [Edit Info]
