Alexander Skarsgard has signed on for True Blood, Alan Ball's new vampire drama series for HBO, as a regular.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, True Blood, based on the "Southern Vampire" book series by Charlaine Harris, centers on the love story between a vampire, Bill (Stephen Moyer), and Sookie (Anna Paquin), a waitress who can read people's minds.

Skarsgard will play a vampire and Viking who has been alive for more than a thousand years.pix45759
